Sarah Chang
Years teaching: 2+
Education:
Studying under Professor Helen Kim, Sarah Chang is currently finishing a Bachelor of Music in
Violin Performance at Kennesaw State University. Her chamber coaches include Professor
Charae Krueger, a talented freelance cellist and teacher at KSU, and Professor Julie Courcheron,
one of the school's outstanding piano faculty.
Experience:
Sarah started learning the piano at age 5 and violin at age 11. Throughout her high school years,
she actively sought out opportunities to play in student recitals and concerts as an ensemble
player. In college, Sarah performed regularly for student symposiums, studio classes, school
concerts, and solo recitals. She has also served as both the associate concertmaster and
concertmaster for the KSU Symphony Orchestra, and she is currently a member of the KSU
Cooke Scholarship Quartet, performing at various events with this scholarship ensemble. In
addition to her college activities, Sarah plays regularly for events all around Georgia as a
freelance musician and began teaching privately in 2021.
Objective:
Sarah values professionalism, attention to detail, accountability, and, most importantly, passion
and joy in learning music. To help grow a love for music, she personalizes her lessons according
to the student’s level and playing style, implementing the student's preferred music and genres
when appropriate. Lessons begin with technical development and ear training but may also
include music reading, theory, and performance skills, depending on the student's level. Most
importantly, Sarah wishes to provide a lesson space where students can explore their musicality
and find true enjoyment in playing music!
