Senior at Kennesaw State University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education
Jonathan Steltzer is currently a Junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music education at Kennesaw State University under the study of Sam Skelton and Luke Weathington for saxophone and woodwind doubling and performs with the Atlanta Wind Symphony, Kennesaw State University Wind and Jazz Ensemble 1, and the World Youth Wind Orchestra in Schladming, Austria. He is a winner of the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition, Great Composers Competition Series 1st prize, winner of the Kennesaw State University Concerto Competition performing John Mackey’s Soprano Sax Concerto with wind ensemble, 2nd place for the Samuel Fordis Young Artist Concerto Competition performing John Adams’ Saxophone Concerto, honorable mention at the International Woodwind Duo Symposium, finalist with the North American Saxophone Alliance Competition and featured as a soloist with the Kennesaw State University Percussion Ensemble. Jonathan performed solo recitals at American Single Reed Summit, Multiple North American Saxophone Alliance conferences and at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research. As an avid street musician, Jonathan has performed throughout Metro Atlanta and has busked in cities from Paris and Munich to Beijing. Jonathan performs with The Fire Truck Duo (Clarinet and Sax) which is a contemporary ensemble with the goal of premiering new works and commissions and have performed at the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium and the American Single Reed Summit. Jonathan is currently the woodwind director at Cartersville High School and the assistant for the Kennesaw State University Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble. He performs with other chamber groups including the Lawless duo (percussion and sax) and the Orpheus Saxophone Quartet.
