Years Teaching: 10+
EducationKrista graduated in 2008 with a B.A. in music from California Baptist University (vocal performance emphasis). She studied piano at CBU under Dr. David Murray (currently head, keyboard area, at Georgia Southern University) and owes her technique and pedagogy training to him. An avid learner, Krista continues to expand her training through various avenues such as Per Bristo's "Sing With Freedom" course. She recently became a licensed Musikgarten teacher, certified in all classes for children ages 1.5 to 10.
ExperienceKrista has a wide array of experience in teaching, performing, and directing. At CBU, she was lead soprano in multiple groups performing in So Cal and across various states. As part of "The Gary Bonner Singers," she performed at the White House in a select ensemble. From churches, to community events, to recitals, to hospital rooms, Krista considers each and every performance a gift. In 2008 Krista began teaching voice and piano and directing student groups. She has directed 30+ shows, 13 performing arts camps in California and Alaska, and numerous other performances. Her experience as a director brings helpful advice to the private lessons setting. As a voice teacher, Krista is skilled in developing every side of the voice, giving singers versatility to pursue Broadway, pop, classical, etc. Whether helping a student one-on-one or in a group setting, Krista has earned a beloved place in the hearts of countless students and parents.
ObjectiveKrista seeks to impart technical skills that free students to express true artistry in performance. VOICE: lessons for elementary focus on musical literacy, fun songs, and some performance training. Lessons for pre-teens focus on technique foundations, musical literacy, and increased performance training. Lessons for the changed voice (typically 13 and beyond) dive fully into technique training with constant application to effective communication in performance. PIANO: lessons for children focus on developing the ear and eye as a team rather than competing enemies. This is accomplished through fun piano songs and developmentally appropriate activities. Lessons for teens and adults are tailored to each student's personal goals while still imparting solid technical skills for true musical artistry and literacy. For more info, visit
