Kathryn began playing cello in fourth grade. She started taking lessons from Sarah Paul and continued lessons with Ms. Paul for ten years. She is currently a sophomore at Kennesaw State University, studying music education under Charae Krueger, who was taught by Laurence Lesser and Colin Carr.
Kathryn has participated in the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra for six years under directors such as Dr. Michael Alexander, Jim Palmer, Grant Harville. She has participated in Cobb County Honor Orchestras since sixth grade. She has also participated in the Georgia Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra, the Georgia All-State Honor Orchestra, and numerous chamber group settings. Kathryn devotes most of her time to multiple musical groups at Kennesaw State University, along with community groups. She also has helped in numerous events, including running sectionals at schools and at Honor Orchestras, judging auditions for Honor Orchestras, conducting and organizing orchestral groups and events, and teaching. Lastly, she is one of the student instructors at a new group geared towards elementary-aged children, the Kennesaw State University String Project.
Enjoying music together, while still broadening the musical ability and knowledge. Also, gaining proficiency in the cello and music in general, which is proven to help all subjects in school; and fostering a love and appreciation for cello and music for a lifelong hobby or possibly a career.
