Health & Safety
At Jennings Music & Education Center, the health & safety of our students, customers, instructors and staff is our top priority.  The following preventative measures and guidelines have been implemented to help everyone do their part to fight the spread of viruses including the flu, Covid-19 and any other contagious disease. In addition to encouraging social distancing, frequent cleaning and wearing face masks, we installed a protective shield at our register, Body Temperature station and added Air Purifiers in our store and all lesson and group rooms.

  • Body Temperature Checks - Students, Instructors and Staff are expected to self-check their body temperature before entering the lessons area.
  • Air Purifiers with UV-C in all lesson rooms.
  • Hand Sanitizer station in the lesson waiting area.
  • Face masks are encouraged but at the discretion of the instructor, students and customers.

JMEC Onsite Lessons Guidelines:

Students:
  1.      Students will voluntarily return to onsite lessons.
  2.      Body Temperature check is required for entry into Lesson Area.
  3.      Face Masks:
    1.      Students should wear face masks if preferred or if requested by the instructor.
    2.     Wind instruments or vocals are not conducive to wearing face masks.  Therefore, students will wear masks as possible if requested by the instructor.
  4.      Hand sanitizer or hand washing is required before each lesson at the JMEC facility.
  5.      Students who have a fever or flu-like symptoms should not come to lessons onsite.  The instructors will be happy to conduct an online lesson if the student is displaying fever or flu-like symptoms.
  6.      Students who know they have been exposed to COVID-19 should avoid attending lessons onsite for the appropriate quarantine period.
  7.      Instructors may refuse to provide the onsite lesson if the student appears to be ill.

Instructors:

  1.      Instructors will voluntarily return to onsite lessons. Some instructors who have preexisting conditions or have close contact to family with preexisting conditions may choose to continue to provide online lessons until further notice. 
  2.      Body Temperature checks are required for entry into Lesson Area.
  3.      Instructors are asked not to teach onsite lessons if displaying any fever or flu-like symptoms. 
  4.      Face Masks:
    1.      If requested by the student or if preferred, Instructors will wear face masks.
    2.     Wind instruments or vocals are not conducive to wearing face masks.  Therefore, instructors will wear masks as possible if requested by the student.
  5.      Cleaning:
    1.      Pianos and common surface equipment will be wiped down between lessons. 
    2.      Hand sanitizer or hand washing is required between lessons.

JMEC Waiting Room:

  1.      JMEC will provide a clean, safe environment. 
  2.      Body Temperature checks are required for entry into Lesson Area.
  3.      The waiting room will be available; however, discretion should be used regarding necessity and number of  family members accompanying students to lessons.
    1.     Family members who are elderly or have preexisting conditions should consider not utilizing the waiting room.
    2.      Family members who have a fever or flu-like symptoms should not utilize the waiting room. 
    3.      Families and students waiting for lessons should practice social distancing from people outside of their own households. 
    4.      Families are encouraged to wear face masks if desired.
    5.      Families are not required to wait for students in the store but should arrive before the end of the class to pick up their student.
  1.      Hand sanitizer will be available for family use and restrooms will continue to be supplied with soap for hand washing.
