Education
Colin graduated in 2008 with a Master of Music in music from the Eastman School of Music (vocal performance), in Rochester, NY. His Bachelor’s music degree is from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA). He also studied piano in both his formative years as well as through college. Colin has concentrated in classical and contemporary styles including jazz and musical theater.

Experience
Colin began teaching/coaching adult beginners and professional singers in 2010. Within the last three years, he has taught voice and piano for younger ages (10-18). Colin has performed in a number of operatic and musical theatre productions in roles such as Capellio in Bellini's ‘I Capuleti e i Montecchi’, Eric the Phantom in ‘Phantom’ by Maury Yeston, and Joe in ‘Showboat’. From 2012-2014, he performed in the bass section of Atlanta-based chamber choir, Coro Vocati, directed by John Dickenson. Colin also composes and arranges his own vocal arrangements. He currently teaches general music, chorus, and piano at a local charter school.

Objective
Colin’s philosophy of teaching involves an approach which allows students to explore the incredibly rewarding benefits of music in general, beyond one sole instrument. We learn best when our learning environment is free of obstruction and fosters a pace suited to their individual interest and level. To make this work, a rapport is built between teacher and student, making it possible to tailor the appropriate individual learning path. This is especially true with any vocalist, as our voices are each as unique as our personalities. With that said, all learners are given a classical foundation. Then we proceed to building an individual learning plan based on their goals and interests.
